Summerland Meadow VAlley Ranch Wedding
Venue: Meadow Valley Ranch, Summerland BC
I first me Sarah and Mark while I was shooting Marks brothers wedding in Summerland last year and Sarah was one of the brides maids in the wedding party. I was thrilled when Sarah asked me to shoot their upcoming wedding and it was so nice to see them again and see quite a few familiar guests that were at Marks brothers wedding.
I don't often have the opportunity to shoot a real country wedding but I'm so happy I shot two this wedding season. There's something comforting and relaxed about being out in the country with the animals and sometimes bugs...which I could do without. This gorgeous little Ranch out in Summerland was a first time visit for me. I understand Mark and Sarah had to book 2 years in advance as the venue has very limited dates for wedding during the season. I fell in love with the property as soon as I pulled into the drive-way. And I could see that the wedding guests felt the same way.
We chose the enclosed large barn as the first look location before all the guests arrived and then snuck out the side door to the beautiful field next to the barn for some bride and groom portraits and family shots. We were greeting by some of the four legged residents while we were shooting and we were all happy to welcome them into some of the shots. We were also greeted by quite a few tiny winged creatures in the tall grass that weren't so welcome. But the results of the shoot were well worth it.
The ceremony took place in front of the large barn and provided some welcome shade after the 'I do's', as it was a very hot sunny day. More family and friends shots, pony rides for the kids, cool refreshments and speeches followed. Next we settled into the adjacent open barn for the dinner and reception. I absolutely loved this venue for so many reasons. One of my favourite features were the large hanging chandeliers in the open reception barn. It made for a very country/elegant event. I hope I have the privilege to be a part of a wedding here again in the near future.
